Terms of service
Effective October 1, 2026
These terms apply to your use of the NameSweep iPhone app and this website, provided by Luke Mulholland ("we"). By using NameSweep you agree to them. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app.
What NameSweep does
NameSweep checks whether a name appears to be available as a domain, social handle, app name or package name, by querying public services at the moment you sweep. It does not register, reserve or buy anything for you.
Results are a best-effort signal
Availability changes constantly, and some services limit, hide or block automated checks. Results can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Always confirm with the registrar or platform before you rely on a result, buy a domain or launch a brand.
The meaning check, typo shield, dormant-handle hints and trademark links are aids, not advice. NameSweep does not perform trademark clearance and nothing in the app is legal advice. For legal questions, talk to a qualified lawyer.
Free and Pro
Domain checks are free. NameSweep Pro is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks every other feature for as long as the app is offered. Payment, refunds and Family Sharing are handled by Apple under its terms. Restore a past purchase from Settings → Restore purchases.
Optional accounts
An account is not required. If you create one, keep your sign-in details secure. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
Acceptable use
Use NameSweep for your own naming research. Don't use it to:
- overload, scrape or circumvent the limits of the services it checks, or automate the app;
- break any law or another service's terms;
- reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it.
Other sites and affiliate links
NameSweep links to registrars and platforms we don't control; their terms apply there. Some registrar links are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you.
Disclaimer
NameSweep is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows, including any warranty that a result is accurate, complete or current.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, names, domains or business opportunities, arising from your use of NameSweep. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for NameSweep Pro. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Changes and ending
We may update NameSweep and these terms. If we change the terms, we'll update them here and change the effective date above. You can stop using NameSweep at any time by deleting the app.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law where you live says otherwise.
